Maurice and I just had the honor of having our photos from one of our recent engagement sessions featured on Style Unveiled! Our client, Elizabeth was asked by Heather of Style Unveiled if she was interested in being featured as one of San Diego’s “Bride in the City“. To see Elizabeth and Fred’s feature on Style Unveiled, click here. To see Elizabeth and Fred’s engagement photos, click here.
Heather: Thanks for featuring one of our awesome clients!
Elizabeth + Fred: We have been so honored to be your wedding photographers. Congratulations on your recent wedding! And thanks Fred for dancing the best rendition of Justin Bieber’s “Baby, Baby, Baby” that we’ve ever seen : )
Maurice and I have been in the wedding business for more than a handful of years now (almost two handfuls!), so naturally you meet new people at weddings and sometimes see them again … Danielle and Scott are a couple we’d met while photographing what we affectionately refer to as our Olympian bride (a real Silver Medalist, from the Beijing Summer Olympics, I kid you not – we are her biggest fans, well, maybe aside from her parents and her husband : ) When one day we got a call from them saying that they would like to chat with us about photographing their wedding in Kaua’i, well, we were just tickled pink and blue! Life some times brings you totally awesome surprises : )
A few months ago, Maurice and I photographed this couple’s engagement session. And the adorable Danielle and Scott recently tied the knot in Hawaii … can you say Aloha and I’ll have a Tropic Island fresh fruit smoothie please : ) … at the St. Regis Princeville in Kaua’I in Hawaii (hint, hint, stay tuned … something aloha-licious will be coming soon : ) Both Danielle and Scott are originally from Orange County, but wanted to have their engagement pictures taken here in San Diego. They wanted something a little urban, a little stylish and a little different. We were only more than happy to oblige : )
We had a great time with Danielle and Scott that day. They are super laid back, uber stylish, but most importantly nice and fun to work with. Enough of the jabber, here’s the photos!
Maurice and I went up to Los Angeles a while back to meet up with Pei and Ben. We actually tried shooting their session on another occasion, but the weather was too yucky (gray, with the hanging-over-the-sky-threat-of-rain), so we decided to postpone for a better day. Maurice and I really like to ensure that we can give our clients the best possible pictures and even though it meant driving to Los Angeles a second time, we were more than happy to, because we prefer shooting in sun and warmth so that we can capture the happy spirit and love of our couples : ) Pei and Ben totally pulled out the sunshine and warmth for their engagement session on the day of their shoot … and Mother Nature obliged with warm temps and sunshine.
If you can’t tell from their pictures, Pei and Ben are two of the nicest, happiest people we know. Pei and Ben were also a blast to hang out with. We started their session at Santa Monica Pier and eventually ended up near Venice Beach. Along the way we discovered that they have a love for snowboarding, as do we : ) Does it count as love if I’ve only done it once?
Pei and Ben recently got married at the Wilson Creek Winery in Temecula. Congratulations you two!!!
Though some parts of the country have been hotter than blazes this year, we here in San Diego and Southern California have been experiencing a mild and (in my opinion) fabulously cool summer. Being part Irish, I tend to burn up in the sun, so I’m loving the cooler days and evenings. So it truly was another gorgeous and amazing San Diego summer day when we met up with Patricia and Martin for their engagement session. Not San Diego natives, Patricia and Martin came down from Irvine to take their engagement photos. They recently were married at the Mary Star of the Sea Church in La Jolla and had their reception at the Westgate Hotel in downtown San Diego.
When we had spoken to Patricia and Martin, they had expressed that they had wanted their pictures to have some beach and some urban aspects to it, which sounded like a great combination! We started our day in Coronado and had a ton of fun at the beach with them with the picturesque skyline of Downtown San Diego behind them. After that, we went back over the bridge to explore around Downtown. We had a blast with the Doctors (Patricia is a Pediatrician and Martin just finished his PhD) and getting to know them!
Patricia and Martin: We have been so excited and honored to have been part of your wedding this summer! Congratulations!!!
On a beautiful San Diego day, Maurice and I met up with Karina, Alex and Miles Davis. I bet you’re not scratching your head and thinking, “Really? THE Miles Davis, who was the famous jazz trumpeter? But wait, isn’t he dead?” Yes, unfortunately the great American trumpeter Miles Davis is no longer with us, but I’m talking about Karina and Alex’s adorable pup, who is named Miles Davis. They brought him along for their engagement session and we couldn’t be more tickled to work with him as well as Karina and Alex. It made us miss our pups, Lou and Izzy, who were at home probably sleeping or doing what they do.
One of the things that we like most about our job is the people that we have the opportunity to meet. Karina and Alex are artists. Alex is a poet and writer and Karina is an attorney and painter. Both extremely creative, which I think makes them such a dynamic couple. We had a blast hanging out with them around Downtown San Diego.
Recently Karina and Alex were married at the Mission de Alcala. So, stay tuned! The next post is their beautiful wedding!
On another gorgeous day in San Diego, we met up with Sasha and Harold. Sasha and Harold will be getting married this coming fall at Tower 23 in Pacific Beach. So excited about their beach meets the city wedding!
Sasha and Harold are two totally adorable, ridiculously stylish and very down-to-earth attorneys who have two adorable pups. They wanted a colorful, edgy and urban engagement session and since they live downtown they wanted to incorporate and capture the neighborhood where the live. We had a blast capturing their love for each other and their love for their doggies : ) Sasha and Harold were a fun couple and we had a blast hanging out with them in and around Downtown San Diego.
Sasha and Harold: We can’t wait for your wedding!
Maurice and I went up to Los Angeles to meet up with two rockstars, Elizabeth and Curt. Well, only one of them is a real rockstar – Curt, though Elizabeth has that rocker style too : ) Curt’s an amazing drummer and his band used to play shows on the renowned Sunset Boulevard. So what better place to take their engagement photos?
Funny memory of their shoot … as we were walking around and hanging out with Elizabeth and Curt, we almost walked right into Ochocinco from the Cincinnati Bengals! Ochocinco did a double take when he saw Maurice’s camera and was probably confused about why Maurice wasn’t taking his picture : ) It definitely added a thrilling element to what was already an awesome day with a awesome couple.
Elizabeth and Curt were recently married at the Lodge at Torrey Pines in La Jolla. Stay tuned for a post on their wedding! It’s coming soon! To tied you over till then, check out their rockin’ engagement photos : )
Maurice and I recently had our photos featured on a blog from across the pond! Beyond Beyond is a invitation company that is located in London. They create beautiful invitations for all events. So, if you need some invitation work done, look no further, contact Beyond Beyond!
When they contacted us to feature the photos from Iris and Huy’s engagement session in Philadelphia on their blog, without a beat we said yes. We were just honored that our photos could reach and inspire someone from all the way from the UK. Isn’t the power of the internet awesome? :) To see the post that Beyond Beyond had done on Iris and Huy’s engagement, click here. To see Iris and Huy’s engagement session on our blog, click here.
Amma: It was an honor and privilege to be apart of your blog!
The other day, Maurice and I had the honor of being featured on the new upcoming website Wedding Gawker. If you don’t know what Wedding Gawker is, it is basically a wedding website that features pictures from weddings/engagement sessions/upcoming wedding trends that are in style right now.
We were lucky to have five of our couples (Kelly + Alex’s wedding and engagement session, Jennifer + Michael’s engagement session, Crystal + Kevin’s engagement session, Elizabeth + Fred’s engagement session, and Karen + Nathan’s family portrait and engagement session) featured on the site’s front page! If you haven’t checked it out, click here.
They also have two sister websites that are setup the same way (Food Gawker and Craft Gawker). But let me warn you in advance, you’ll get hooked!
On another beautiful day in San Diego, we met up with Rebecca and Brendan in Oceanside. Rebecca and Brendan were married this spring at the North Chapel at the NTC Liberty Station.
We started our day by hanging out by some old bridges no longer in use. After that we headed towards Oceanside’s harbor and shot around the colorful shops. All in all, the day was a lot of fun and Rebecca and Brenda is such a sweet couple!
Stay tuned, their bright yellow and navy themed wedding is next!
On another gorgeous day, we headed Downtown San Diego to meet up with Sarah and Chris. They live in Downtown, so it was a natural choice to include their downtown neighborhood in the shoot.
Sarah is a HUGE sports fan and has a soft spot for all of our local teams. Chris, an avid cyclist, broke out his bike for a couple of shots. They even included their adorable pup in the shoot. It was a blast walking around with them through the colorful and captivating locations of Downtown San Diego.
Shortly after we took their engagement photos, they were married at a private estate on Mt. Helix. Stay tuned, their wedding photos are coming soon!
Sarah and Chris: Thanks for the Padres game the other day! We had a blast! Can’t wait to see you both again soon!
We recently had the opportunity to travel to Philadelphia and New York City to shoot a couple of destination engagement sessions. You may recall Iris and Huy’s shoot here. Well, after shooting in Philadelphia, we made a quick trip northward to New York City to meet up with Kathleen and John. They are fortunate enough to live right in the heart of midtown Manhattan … sigh … (jealous much?) but will be getting married in San Diego this fall at the Mission de Alcala with their reception at the Coronado Island Marriott.
Kathleen and John are the quintessential metropolitan couple. What better place to take their pictures than in the city they love? We started our session in Central Park, close to the world famous Fifth Avenue Apple Store and the Plaza Hotel. After that, we took a cab south to the Flatiron Building near Madison Square Park, stopped for a little Bocce Ball game in Madison Square Park, and then ended our tour in the Gramercy Park area. We had a blast hanging out and getting to know Kathleen and John while we walked around their picturesque city.
Even though I love San Diego very much, I must say that I left some of my heart in New York City. Maurice and I heart HEART heart that place and can’t wait to go back!
Kathleen and John: We can’t wait to see you again this fall!
We recently had the opportunity to travel to Philadelphia and New York City to shoot a couple of destination engagement sessions. While in Philadelphia, we met up with Iris and Huy, who recently got married in San Diego. Iris and Huy live in Philadelphia and decided to have their engagement pictures in their neighborhood, which was great, because they live near Rittenhouse Square, which is located in the heart of historic Philadelphia. We’re talking walking distance to important landmarks like the Liberty Bell and Independence Hall, which was really cool! Even though it drizzled on and off during the session, it was a great day with a really fun couple. And I must say, umbrellas and a cute raincoat can really make an adorable rainy day shoot : )
Iris and Huy: Congratulations!!!
On a beautiful sunny day in San Diego, Maurice and I met up with Jamie and Ethan in Coronado. Jamie and Ethan are San Diego transplants who currently live in San Francisco. They will be getting married this fall at The Prado in Balboa Park.
Jamie is a writer and I love her fashion sense. That girl knows how to dress for sure! I loved all the fun and colorful outfits that she brought for their engagement session! Ethan is a laid back and friendly guy. Together, they make an awesome couple filled with lots of love and most of all fun. It was a joy to capture their admiration for each other.
Jamie and Ethan: We can’t wait for your wedding this fall!
On another gorgeous day in San Diego, Maurice and I met up with Elizabeth and Fred at Balboa Park. This fun-loving couple will be getting married this coming fall at the Darlington House.
Elizabeth and Fred were a blast to hang out with. They love picnics and to travel. The two cute dolls that are in some of the pictures will be a part of their wedding as their wedding cake toppers! It was bought during one of their trips overseas and we think it’s adorable.
Elizabeth and Fred: We can’t wait for your wedding this fall!
